When Thomas Hamilton & Ron MacCloskey began work on “Boris Karloff: The Man behind the Monster” they planned either a 4-hour, 2-part film or a 6 part mini series.

With 55 subjects and over 60 hours of interviews, they gathered a comprehensive range of testimony. But it was too much to fit into a 98 minute film and Hamilton cut many sequences in order for the film To be MORE COMPACT, yet coherent and well paced.

BOTH vowed that the cut material SHould be shared with fans at some point and IN 2022, Hamilton assembled this 2hrs 3mins FILM exclusively for Blu-ray / DvD release.

This version (credited as a “Roughcut Production”) featured most green screen interviews in their raw form and allowed some interviews to run 5 - 6 minutes without cuts. While this was great as a DVD extra, Hamilton IS PLANNING a finished version for a wider audience.

COMING SOON - THEATRICAL VERSION

THIS will be A greatly tightened, cleaned up UPGRADE, designed to be shown as a stand alone or companion piece to the main film. As well as tightening and polishing the material, Hamilton WILL include FURTHER unseen sequences and interviews - including ABOUT Karloff’s FORMATIVE YEARS.

Voltage Films hopes to complete this version of The Rest of the Story by the end of 2024.
